SNIPPET PRODUCTION

SNIPPET AUTHOR
Snippet Authors are responsible for writing a Snippet, an article spanning 500 to 800 words, and tailored to two to three neuroscience-focused research articles. They will have the opportunity to learn methods for finding and reading research articles and receive guidance through weekly feedback during the writing period from Snippet Core Editors.
Responsibilities
- Attend weekly meetings at the times described
- Engage in and maintain motivation to meet timeline goals for Snippet production, around one to two hours weekly
- Participate in the quarter-long Snippet time frame, as defined in the application form, as well as a short period after the quarter to review Grad Student Edits
SNIPPET CORE EDITOR
Snippet Core Editors are responsible for mentoring Authors throughout the production cycle. Core Editors will provide constructive feedback and edits, help with conducting workshops, and guide Snippet Authors as they work on their articles. This role requires at least two quarters of production experience in Grey Matters to apply.

- Help Snippet Authors find and read neuroscience research articles
- Provide useful feedback as authors write their articles
SNIPPET MANAGER
The Snippet Manager oversees the production of Snippets and ensures each team member has access to the resources they need. Key responsibilities include updating the roster, creating individual folders for Snippers, preparing the template sheet with the upcoming schedule and checklist, and embedding necessary information within the sheet’s hidden cells. The Snippet Manager also maintains a master sheet tracking progress across all Snipper activities, leads planning for the internal and external SNIPPET Expo, and ensures published Snippets are correctly tagged and formatted.
Responsibilities
- Ensure smoothness in the Snippet Program
- Ensuring a collaborative and inclusive environment within the Snippet Program
- Manage documentation and material preparation including pre-cycle preparation work
- Aid in the recruitment of Snippers
- Communicate with Core-editors and GSRs to ensure the Snipper’s completion of their Snippet Cycle
- Check-in with individuals when things go awry
- Take initiative in starting snippet cycle
